expensive bonsai tree
The most expensive Bonsai in the world? "In the world" I don't know, but this Bonsai became the most spoken of Bonsai in Takamatsu last November. See the price. It sold for 100 million yen! Yeah, you read me right. One hundred million yens! (that's about €1,000, $300,000 or £80,000 as I write these lines)Crazy, right? This tree intrigued me so much that I did some Googling. Even Forbes (Forbes!) has published an article on the big business of small trees: I am ambivalent with bonsai. They're beautiful, but I can't help but think it's like putting a tree in a cage. They're both in a cage and a flower in a pot. 😉 However, as with animals in a cage (well, it depends on which animal in which cage, of course), they are better treated and live a life better than in nature. Don't forget it's a wrong idea to think that animals are happier in nature. If they are given proper care in captivity they are much happier. Life in nature means a life of constant stress (from having to find food and avoid being eaten mostly) and a short life. Even the aspect of freedom is "overrated" Although it is true that most animals in captivity have less freedom of movement than in nature, in nature, most animals live in a small area (which they know well), do not travel around the world. And the animals that travel a lot do it for climate and/or food reasons. Needs that disappear when properly cared for in captivity. But we're getting out of the subject here, so back to Bonsai. For Bonsai and other plants, the theme is very different. Plants don't move. And once again the majority of Bonsai leads a life much better than their wild giant counterparts. I hate zoos. I'm too used to the African savannah, and the view of a leopard moving in a small cage, up and down, up and down... not good. Its range is up to 80 km2. As for the bonsai flower vs in a pot, OK, you have a point! I wouldn't mind a little bonsai baobab! 🙂Of course, no animal belongs to any enclosed space, but zoos receive a lot of bad press so they used to be (only parks of fun with animals in them), yet nowadays they are no longer that. However, I have to admit that I have been less than impressed by the Japanese zoos, but most if not all European zoos (or Americans?) today are led by people who know what they are doing and who respect the animals and treat them in the best possible way. I would like to have a bonsai baobab too, now that you mention it (I think I've seen some before...) Everything is a matter of perspective. Considering the animal's perspective, my assumption is that they would want to be wild and free, as nature (appearedly) intended. Wow! That's very expensive for a Bonsai. I like them a lot, but not so much. Completely crazy, but there are people who have a lot of money that they can't spend during their lives. On the one hand, I think it's crazy. On the other hand, knowing that the tree is 300 years old and all the work and care it has received during all those years, I think it is worth more than many other things that can cost that price (coches, contemporary art and such)Am amazing tree and worth every penny no doubt. Not that I'd buy it if I had that kind of money. For me the joy of the bonsai comes in my creation, and even if they will never be as amazing as some of the masterpieces, I have fun to cultivate them anyway. I often have people who say things about my trees on the lines that it's cruel to keep small pots. It doesn't realize that for every tree growing to maturity there are literally billions of seeds that never do. Keeping a tree in a pot is limiting the amount of space available for the roots to grow, and in that sense it is no different than a seed that is growing in a rock depression or somewhere in nature where it only has a small amount of soil. Bonsai are some of the lucky ones. Yeah, I never really understood the concept of being cruel to a plant. Is it possible to be cruel to a thing that has no brain? What about taunting the lawn, isn't it cruel? What's to eat? Even vegans are cruel to plants then... As for the growth of his own Bonsai. Yeah, I tried. I'll try again soon. Maybe he won't die this time (note for himself, don't leave your Bonsai in the sun in July when it's 35°C). It is not "cruel" to confine a plant... or to eat an animal. That's what nature intended. I believe that animals as "pets" are well, as long as they are loved and cared properly, at the best of their ability. Unbelievable. Do Bonzai has a long life expectancy, imagines having passed for generations. Bonsai lives in theory while his counterpart is normal (with proper care of course). This is about 300 years old (I just realized I forgot to mention it in the post) and I've heard of 600-year-old Bonsai. Now I can't tell you the oldest engraving. My 85-year-old aunt gave me bonsai trees that grew out of seed. How will I know what was worth? Honestly, I have no idea. If you've read a bit, you'll know I'm far from being a Bonsai specialist. I'd say they're worth the price someone's willing to pay for them. Beyond that I have no idea.
